Exterior Features
Since the reminder of RioVistaVilla.com covers the home extensively, we have reserved this area to highlight a few of the exterior features we may have overlooked such as:
Roof: In 2008 Ohio experienced it’s first ever Hurricane. Ike caused hurricane force winds to pound the Springboro area for over 18 hours causing over $500 million in damages. Roofs across the area were shredded. That said we managed to escape with relatively little to no damage which is remarkable considering the number of large trees on the property.
We had the roof inspected and aside from some brick on the chimney that needed repair and a small area of shingles in the rear that needed replacing, the roof was given a clean bill of health.
Front Door: In April 2009 the front door was completely redone
Garage Doors: In April 2009 the garage doors were completely resurfaced
Landscaping: When we purchased the home, the former owners, had for some reason, removed nearly all of the external landscaping. Soon thereafter we were invited to join the group that meets bi-monthly for dinner. In this group are the original owners of this estate and they happened to still have a framed picture of the original landscaping. It was stunning. Beginning last year and continuing into 2009 we have been restoring the external landscape to it’s original glory and are happy to say the project is now finished.
Exterior Lights: Sometimes the small pleasures in life are the most memorable and the external lights which follow the winding driveway bring a smile to our face every evening. The lights begin as soon as you cross the river and follow the long, winding drive all the way to the front door.
Gravel Drive: There was considerable debate when we first purchased the home regarding the driveway. At first we seriously considered having the entire drive either paved or poured cement. At this point we are thankful it remains mostly gravel. The gravel was redone in March 2009 and does need to be touched up about every 2 years. that said however the cost is quite low and in the winter months you will be happy you have a predominantly gravel drive. It provides much needed traction in the winter and makes for a quaint drive in the spring, summer and fall.
Blacktop Drive: There is one section of the drive where gravel proved unworkable. At he beginning of the hill and continuing up to the house itself, the gravel kept running down the hill in heavy rains. Therefore blacktop was utilized in this section and was resurfaced in May 2009.
